Alice Lai-Bitker, MSW, LCSW
Founder and Board President
Alice founded Diversity in Health Training Institute in 2011 as she finished up her 10 years of public service as the Alameda County Supervisor for District Three. During her time as a policy maker, she dealt with improving access of health care, social services, domestic violence services and mental health services.
She knew the health care workforce was an area she wanted to make an impact on. She encountered immigrants who were educated and experienced doctors and nurses in their home countries who were not able to get back to their health care field here in the United States, and instead were working in menial jobs.
She strongly feels that no talent should be wasted and took action to help address the need of diversifying the health care workforce. She is very proud of the work of DHTI and is very appreciative of all the staff who are working hard in making a difference in the immigrant communities each and every day.
